Jami Buzinski practices exclusively in the area of Family Law and Matrimonial Law, both on the trial and appellate court levels. Jami concentrates her practice in contested family matters, including high conflict child related issues, child support, maintenance, distribution of marital estates, defense of DCFS reports, appeals of DCFS indicated reports and other marital and parental rights.
Tantamount to Jami’s practice is communication between her and her client. Jami is a problem solver. “As a problem solver, I remain objective, list the obstacles, identify opportunities, breakdown silos and do my best to negotiate amicable resolutions to each client’s unique and complex problems.” As a mother of two, “I believe that children should come first and their needs and interests always considered. And, I take very seriously my role and responsibility as a counselor for my clients helping them make good and rational decisions for their futures.”
Jami’s instincts as a litigator and her strong understanding of financial and tax issues combined with her compassion for her clients allow her to be a skilled negotiator as well as a formidable opponent and litigator the courtroom. “I love trial work and trial advocacy, but I understand that the choice of a trial has very real and long lasting consequences for my clients.”
Prior to joining Davis Friedman Jami was a partner with Kamerlink, Stark, Powers & McNicholas, LLC, where she started as a law clerk and grew her practice. While clerking at Kamerlink, Stark, Powers & McNicholas, Jami was also a law clerk at the Cook County State’s Attorney, Cook County Public Defender and the Department of Children and Family Services. Jami’s experience in both the private and public sectors gives her a unique perspective on the practice.

Jami has been a speaker on a number of family law issues including trial techniques, pensions, and other retirement asset divisions, guardianship and child custody disputes. Most recently, Jami was a speaker for the Illinois State Bar Association, “Family Law Table Clinic Series.”
